EDIT: This isn't on the Bonne Carre. It's between the basin and Baton Rouge. I misunderstood what fricked up part of I-10 in Louisiana OP was referring to.

I passed there about an hour ago. It looked like some sort of delivery sprinter type van slammed full speed into the back of a propane delivery truck just West of Lobdell. The van was all caved in on the front. It looked like the dead guy got crushed and was kinda slumped over on the driver's side covered with a blue tarp. The driver's side of the passenger cabin was absolutely obliterated and the entire front end was caved in.

I was heading WB and a couple of troopers blew by us hauling arse and then a little bit later, once the WB lanes were properly rubbernecked, we were passed by the coroner's van going the wrong way in the EB lane. I passed the scene right after the coroner arrived, but before they removed the body from the vehicle. I counted 10 marked units, 7 unmarked, two ambulances, the coroner's van, a flatbed wrecker for the van, and an 18 wheeler wrecker for the propane truck. It didn't look like a fun day.

Traffic was backed up a couple of miles at the scene and the Sheriff's office had coned up the left lane of the WB lane to bring people stuck on the EB lane across the median and get them heading back the other direction to clear that traffic jam. Cops were diverting people off of I-10 EB at the truck stops in Grosse Tete and traffic was backed up all the way to the Basin. If you're heading EB on I-10, divert to I-49 and take 190 in. shite for that matter, between the rubbernecking and everyone heading WB having to get over into the right lane to let the EB traffic in, I'd take 190 WB, too. With a fatality, that whole area's going to be fricked up for hours.
