High yesterday was 15 here in Pittsburgh. Had about 4 inches of snow and lots of ice on the roads this morning. It's in the 50s now though.

Here in Oxford, the temp went from 72 to 45 in two hours and is expected to be 25 by 6 a.m. Crazy.

got up, it was 27 degrees.

had to go to grocery. car was covered in ice. went out and started it and came back in and waited for the windows to melt.

I proceeded to fool with my Sirius XM radio as I turned from a 25 mph sidereal onto the 40 mph downhill that goes out to the main highway I had to use. I look over to the right and observe that now I am driving in 2 inches of icy slush. Oh No, says I. I proceeded onto a steep downhill with long strips of black ice. (I can now look back and say, every time we get a hard rain, there is a flow over the road right there. So we can see that the rain runoff was freezing over night, then flowing over the ice.
I came along when it was 2 inches thick in places, but the road had been treated and there were bare patches. All the while I am in no man's land. At any time, the ice can be bad enough that I have no control.
I went on my way. My big moment came as I came down another icy hill and there was a VW at the bottom, picking his nose, waiting for 1000 yards of clear road to pull onto the highway. He went on. I was very glad no one was in my way.
I slid some when I pulled onto the road.

Did not go back out again all day.

Same thing tomorrow, I am sure.

A friend in Kenesaw, NE said his pipes in their north facing bathroom was freezing. That was five hours ago. It's -11 right now. Forecast calling for -13. I feel sorry for the livestock.
