I’m fairly certain most everybody who served in the war and saw the Japanese have those same “racist” opinions about them. Even if they are otherwise bleeding heart liberals.

You'll have to define "foreign car" first.
For a long time, Camrys and Tundras used the most American parts.
Their corporate offices might be Nagoya but there building their cars and spending more money in America than GM or Ford.

I'm not saying that I refuse to buy a foreign vehicle, but I've been driving for 45yrs and have never owned one...

significantly higher portion of your money goes to support the Japanese economy, relative to the money you could have spent supporting an American manufacturer.
Not really, if you buy a Toyota in particular, a lot of their best selling models are manufactured here (Camry, Corolla, 4Runner, Tacoma, Tundra). Japanese companies also tend to stay away from Mexican made parts.
GM imports a lot of different models here from Mexico like the Equinox, Terrain, Blazer, and some of the Sikverado. So buying a Tacoma, you're supporting more American workers. The only people who benefit the GM purchase are the CEO and some shareholders.

The whole "only buy 'Merican" people are the reason why GM and Ford have been able to ship jobs overseas and make crappy vehicles and get away it (that and the bailouts).

A lot of baws buy American cars without realizing that most of the components could be imported.
Your American car isnt American.

In fact, not a single car currently available in the US domestic market is 100% American-made, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. So, unless US parts manufacturers can plug the gaps, car companies are on the road to higher production costs.
Your American car isnt American.

Mercedes, Honda, Toyota, Mazda, and Hyundai have plants in Alabama. Toyota is also in Mississippi. I think Nissan is in Tennessee and Mississippi. There are plenty of options with the traditionally foreign owned manufacturers that are now built in the States.

Ford and GM are now importing cars from China (Lincoln Nautilus & Buick Envision). I'd much rather a Japanese car built by proud Kentuckians than some communist crap.

Lexus RX350s are made either in Japan or Canada.
It is a foreign car.
