re: Are there any nuns still teaching in Catholic schools?

Went to a Catholic school in the 80's where about half of the teachers were nuns. Most were nice as long as you behaved but a few were meaner than a wet hornet and my mouthy arse got tore up a few times at the hands of a nun. I remember being in stations of the Cross (after recess in hot August) and feeling as if I was going to pass out. The whole Church was hot and you just keep repeating kneeling and standing, kneeling and standing, etc.) I asked my nun teacher if I could go get some water and she knew better than to let my younger trouble making self leave so she told me to be quiet. I remember telling her that I didn't feel good and that's when I passed out. The next thing I knew I was sitting outside the Church and the nun was giving me a lecture as I was coming to about the importance of eating a proper breakfast...damn bitch.
Again...most were cool but a few of them seemed to have a chip on their shoulder.

same here....one would have you make a fist and she would slap you on the knuckles with a ruler. It was terrible back then, but kinda funny now!

Damn I remember that. They would make you stand in front of the class while they blasted your knuckles. It was hard not to wince in pain but had to take it like a little man since the entire class was watching.
