If it hasn't been posted already I want to go out Game of Thrones style.

Or have a friend take some of my ashes and toss me on a craps table on a roll.

I come from a family of only burials. Told my wife and parents that if something happens to me, cremate me...wait a couple months til the shock wears off, then toss my ashes in the gulf. I don't want obituaries, memorials or any of that other shite. Get together and hang out with each other.

Agreed, but there had better be decent whiskey there, too.

You're kidding, you never heard the term?

LINK

The term is also in Aerosmith's song- Sweet Emotion, listen carefully next time you hear it.

I was trying to ask you as kindly and discreetly as I could; if you're pregnant yet. But now you made me come out and be nosy and rude in asking outright.

I am odd as I love cemeteries and am quite at home in them. They are fascinating with the histories and stories they hold.

But I do see the issue of them taking up so much space and am fine with cremation and creative remains solutions.

All of my grandparent, aunts, uncles, etc from both sides of the family are in the same small cemetery in a small town and the cemetery is well cared for, has a vital volunteer group devoted to caring for it. I love that cemetery and have happy memories of playing among the tombstones as a child while my gram tended graves and told me stories of the people in the tombs.

But they are running our of room there and cremation allows for multiple family members to be added to the above ground vaults that we have. There is also a mausoleum.

I love the new creativity with loved ones remains. The viking boats, cremated ashes being put into fireworks and set off into the sky, cremated remains being made into diamonds, tree pods, donated to science, etc.

Oh and a shout out for the "body farm" where you can donate your body to forensic experts who will set your body in a specific situation outside in their "farm" and observe what happens as you decompose. This allows them to establish times of death, what insect and animal activity occurs, etc.LINK

This is what we did with my father in November. Direct cremation and had the beer iced up on the back porch for after the memorial services at the church. Amazing what it costs to die. Direct cremation is cheaper than a coffin but still not free.
