Are all safety specialists out of shape and think too highly of themselves?

I am onto my third company and every single safety manager has been fat, cocky and just generally annoying people. Is this common?

First of all, the safety managers have to QC the food, and pounding burgers and fries every day is known to make you fat.

Ours is around 40 and full on gym rat. Looks like he used to be a wrestler back in the day.

I taught a guy who is doing that now. He's skinny and as nice a guy as you'll ever meet.

Yes. Though the site manager (or whoever is in control per title) is technically top-dog, the head safety person’s decisions/judgement will usually supersede the site manager’s 99% of the time and they know this.

People in general are fat (especially in the South). So the probability of a safety specialist being a fatty is like 92%, based on a multivariate analysis I just performed.

So it's much more likely that said specialist be fat than not.

You ever met someone in safety that people actually like? They probably think everyone likes them, but they don't and they all live for that job because it gives them a sprinkle of power and it's usually someone who gets off on having any amount of power.

I like both of our safety guys. Both are in shape.

I assume you guys all work on construction sites are rigs. White collar folks don’t have to deal with that as much. Seems like a boring job to me
