Paging Yellowfin, SFP, boosie, etc.

Third Year law student about to graduate and take the Louisiana Bar this summer.

My lease is up in August.

I don't have a job offer yet. I have been applying mostly to jobs around Baton Rouge, but also to several opportunities around South Louisiana and large national metro areas (NYC, DC, LA, etc).

An extremely nice furnished apartment opened up in downtown BR for a really low rate relative to what rentals in that building and surrounding buildings typically go for. I can reserve it for August 1 by paying the deposit and first month's rent now.

Part of the terms of the lease is that I cannot sublet it to anyone (i.e. as a backup plan if I have to take a job elsewhere).

Would it be a bad idea to take up this lease when I don't have a job lined up here yet even though this is the main place where I'm looking?

Any thoughts on what I should do in this situation?

Since the place is in downtown, I figured I'd include some pictures from Happy's for your trouble:

Ask your law professor, not a bunch of pipe fitters and “IT consultants” of the OT

As tempting as it sounds, I wouldn't do it unless there is some kind of clause in the lease that lets you break the lease if you move out of town. I remember being in the same situation as you and regardless of where you are searching for a job or what leads you think you have, you really have absolutely no idea where you will be working 6 months from now.

Are your parents still alive? Do you have a relationship with them? If so, suck up your pride and live with them for a couple months until you get settled job-wise. Committing to a lease with that uncertainty is just dumb.

El Cid sounds like it is what you want and need.

I’m sure the plant operators have something to offer.

I wasn’t asked, but I would try to find out if you have a buy out option.

Sorry...but I would not want to seek legal counsel from someone that has to even ask this.

Just dial the same number 7 times in a row and ask if they are hiring.

I’m just relieved we’ll soon have another lawyer in Louisiana. I was worried we’d run out.

Didn't he used to drive around in a Mercedes with a personalized license plate "E"? What a douchebag.

Blame Southern and Loyola. LSU's classes really aren't that big.

If it's that cheap then something is wrong with it.

I'd explain the situation and see if month to month is something they'd be open to. They may charge you a little more per month, but it would be worth it. There are beau coup properties in the BR area that will allow month to month.

If she said she liked digital sex, I’d finger bang her until I got carpal tunnel syndrome.

What was the question again? Something about Law School?
