Watching show on it on Netflix. Does it or can it work, or just a complete scam.

I had 36 teeth not 32 like most people and they are massive in a jaw that was screwed up by a botched tonsillectomy as a child so super screwed up.(Not to mention my childhood dentist lost his license for being abusive) I didn’t get braces because they wanted to break my jaw, to do it and I would have to drink from a straw for 6 months, etc. That meant, No football, etc and I had hard time gaining weight as a teenager.

Was just wondering

Cheaper than surgery or orthodontics, although the six months eating through a straw and losing 15-20 pounds is kinda appropriate now

Hard to call it a scam when it’s free, but it doesn’t work.

Is this the thing that's suppose to strengthen your jaw & make your jawline purty?

My lady says her jaw gets tired when giving me a blowjob. You tried that? Might work.

I watched a video about mewing on YouTube once and see an occasional video on it pop up in my feed now. Don't know how thorough what I watched was compared to what you've watched. The only exercise I saw was holding your tongue firm against the roof of your mouth behind the top teeth.

The clickbait claims on some YouTube videos appear dubious... like I doubt that one exercise can reshape a weak jaw in a month or even a few months... but if you're committed I would imagine any exercise can have a modest effect over time. It's my understanding that kids who suck their thumb too much can cause their teeth to misalign. So, in the same way, it doesn't seem impossible that persistent effort with the tongue can move teeth a little bit (though you're an adult now and no longer growing /as disposed to change). I would imagine it would take a ton of effort & discipline every day for modest change.

As someone else said, though, it's free. If you try it and it doesn't move your teeth, you'll at least have a stronger tongue... so you'll have that going for you.

Here's a video from some doctor:
youtube

The gist is mewing is one exercise in a field called orthotropics, which utilizes mewing, chewing exercises, etc to improve teeth, jaw, etc. Orthotropics is in contrast to traditional orthodontics, which uses appliances.

The doc suggests some of what I said. It might work a little over time, but don't expect quick results. There are countless other videos on mewing and/or orthotropics if you want to dig further.

Andrew Huberman talks about it but it seems that some of mewing's effects are related to people becoming nose breathers when "mewing". Huberman says that the biggest contributor to face shape is mouth breathing vs nose breathing.
