I had a surprisingly decent one from the Brookshires bakery last year and the grocery bought ones don't usually impress me. I'd had one of the Gambinos sold at Kroger for a ridiculous $20 and didn't care for that one at all. Dry and bland.

I have to bump this post with an update. My brother brought home a King Cake from Tubb’s this week and they’re WAY different than they used to be. Much more traditional with lots of cream cheese and a great, light cake. I would definitely get another one.

I use to get them for my parents when in town .. I got them from Lilahs(sp)..
By centenary as I recall..

I thought the were very good. Had tons of options..

And fwiw .. I have tried a LOT of king cakes !
