Lexapro is a bitch when you start taking it, even worse when you quit.
Posted on 2/16/14 at 7:39 pm to DirtyMikeandtheBoys
Wellbutrin is often prescribed on top of other meds to help with certain symptoms. lexapro is mostly good on it's own, so yea it's stronger. it's not addictive, it's just effective when it's been in your system for a period of time and builds up, so when you just quit and it's not being replenished, you have problems.
xanax is, in many doctors' opinions, worse than alcohol in terms of addiction and withdrawal, and I tend to agree with them based on my experience

a lot of people still have nasty side effects from it though, but like you said, not as bad as lexapro or xanax.

yea for a week or two you're just thinking "why am I doing this to myself? it's not even helping"

Stopping Wellbutrin is fine. It can be a problem but not like Xanax or other benzos.
To the OP, it is not abnormal as initial course. If your buddy was in the middle of a period of intense anxiety or a panic attack a benzo is all that will work. Xanax is a good one, but has highest addictive potential. They all can be but Xanax appears to be the most abused.
I take Wellbutrin and Valium PRN. It can be debilitating.

completely retarded to quit drugs like that cold turkey btw
I concur. I was prescribed to anti-depressants for anxiety while in college. Hated the side effects, so I just stopped taking them one day. Talk about a horrible experience.

A lot of people take this? Is there a benefit to it over Valium? Less addictive? Longer acting?
Valium makes me go from "nervous about being nervous" to functional. Never got a buzz from it. Of course when I started it I was a fricking dumpster fire of nerves. And I only take 5mg. Sometimes break them in half.

Some people will have the symptoms bounce back x 2.
Better have the med in the house just in case even if quitting. Until you know???

Just drink a beer or a glass of wine instead... works just the same and is less addictive.

exactly, even with the 6 week stair stepping to get to 20mg, the first couple months were hell with the TMJ and brain zaps.. now its all good.

I believe it was an anti-depressant that I was prescribed for anxiety back in '08, I took it for a very very short time because I didnt follow the rules.
When they say don't drink while taking that medication, they are not fricking lying.

what do I do for anxiety that I get on my way to work?
Posted on 2/16/14 at 7:50 pm to BAMAisDIESEL09
yea I'll just pound a 40 down on the way to a job interview.

Is that normal? Can't you get dependent on those meds? Seems like you'd want to work though the anxiety on your own but I'm no beta
I'm on Zoloft. They generally recommend to not be on those kinds of meds long-term, since they do have potential to cause some dependency. I think of them as a way to get stable enough to seek help in the first place and start learning how to deal with stress without meds. I was stressed just about calling the Mental Health Center to make an appointment.

I haven't been back on them since, but I just felt "off" during the two-three months after I stopped taking them
