He's busy running the country, so I can't ask him.

frick those get a Concept 2. They'll last forever. For $800 it's worth it.

A water rowing machine? You mean a rowboat?

No experience with water, but the Concept 2 is the shite.

I've heard great things about the C2.
Is the noise an issue? Comparisons I've seen always mention how quiet the WR is.
Also, I've seen where C2 can be tough on your knees, where WR can be tough on your back. Have you had any knees issues with the C2?

I mean, water is definitely quieter, but is that a big deal? You're working out.

Rowing is rowing. As long as you do it properly you're fine. Fwiw NCAA athletes and pros practice on C2's. I'd trust their judgement.

No issues with either. C2 is closer to real rowing and is louder and not pretty but is the best built along with the xebex but c2 has the best monitor. Both can stand up to incredible abuse in the form of HiiT.
Water rower is nicer as far finish goes and is quite but will not stand up to day after day of HiiT type workouts. Also takes up more space.
Can't go wrong with either but I much prefer the concept2/xebex after having used the water rower and concept 2 a ton and now owning the xebex. If was choosing again I would choose the xebex just due to the deal I got but prolly concept2 if price was not a concern just to be able to compare accurately to others times.
