If so, what was your experience like? And describe your training regt on how you peaked at the right time leading up to the meet. Doing my first one in a couple of months.

Once my snatch gets above 315. I'm at a solid 305 now.

Most of us are strong enough for competitions but we have too many other things to do

I've done about 6 total so far, and it's a very fun experience! I usually cycle my reps about 10 weeks before the meet, starting with 10 reps the first week and dropping a rep or two each week. About two weeks prior to the meet you want to be hitting around your one rep max on each lift. Do your squat and bench openers the week before and rest up. Remember your commands, pick your attempts right, and have fun!

How many sets do you do? Can you share an example of a week training plan?

On a squat day, I usually do 2-3 sets at my top weight for whatever reps I'm trying to hit. Then after that, I do some de-load sets at a lighter weight and shoot for fast/explosive reps. Then I got to assistant work. I do the same for bench, and I only deadlift my top weight for one set.

What are the lifts? I competed in high school....which was a long time ago:) . Only did 4 but won them all for my weight class...190 - 200 at the time.

I still lift daily but have never thought of myself as a body builder... it's just my hobby.

Honestly... I am not expert in anything and people love to claim that they have found some "trick"...but the reality is that if ur lifting to increase ur max.... u should never be able to do more than 5 reps. Be careful... that's demanding weight and it will tax ur joints.

I would recommend u lift for ur on satisfaction. Don't do what it takes to compete. If u do... ur 45 year old self will hate u for it.

I used to compete but they asked me to stop because it wasn't fair. My workout routine includes banging OT 10's and carrying my wallet around all day

Powerlifting meets aren't the same as being a bodybuilder. I've been lifting heavy for years and now I want to compete. Just looking for what other competitors do for train-up.

Results?

I competed in the Louisiana State meet a few years ago and took home first place in my weight class.
