If its a 2000-2004 5.4 it's likely the impeller. Take care of it sooner than later or else you're looking at head damage.

I agree with the above.
Check coolant level, fans and change Tstat. If this doesn’t fix it, change the coolant temp sensor.
What year truck? Doesn’t it otherwise run fine?
My son’s 12 ecoboost f150 did the same thing. I changed the Tstat and temp sensor and it went away. Start with the Tstat and then change the sensor if it continues. I didn’t have a CEL/DTC, do you?

what year F150? Ford had a bad design in several years ago with a ypipe that runs from the radiator to the block
A genius engineer though using an O ring would be a great idea- instead the dumb thing goes bad, drips water and is hard to detect- a known problem that most people will miss unless they know about it

FWIW my 1989 Silverado did the same thing and it was a water pump.
