Yet close enough to load the kayaks for a quick Nanty run. Bryson City is the epicenter of where we're looking for just that reason.

Less than an hour from GSMNP, about an hour and a half to all of the trails on the Blue Ridge Parkway, and about two hours from the Ocoee. Fontana, Santeelah, Cherokee, and Chatuge lakes are close also. I don’t even know how much NFS land I’m surrounded by. Endless it feels like.

30 for me. I couldn't hit my nearest neighbor's roof with a rifle and can see everything from Toxaway to Cold Mountain to Pisgah. Can. Not. Wait. for Emperor Elon to sort me out.
