Had some SEALs try to sell me a sixer of Budweiser for $200 in Kuwait in 2001.
Later on I knew a security contractor who was a SEAL. We weren't best buds or anything but he was a cool guy. He occasionally does commentary on Fox News now.

I like how everyone has known a 'handful of seals' in their day.... this board Ian so full of shite. I would guess not even half of the people some are assuming wee SEALS were not.
The statistical odds of someone 'have wielded with a couple over the years' are just astronomical.
Posters who don't know any seals aren't going to post in this thread for the most part, hence the question. It's not our fault you are a jaded frick who doesn't believe anything, it's not anyone's job to make you believe.

I knew a few spec op guys in b-school, all really intelligent chill guys. Would never know they were in the military.
I've generally found the more badass a guy is the more quiet they are about their service time. If you see a truck with 5 marine stickers and the dude is constantly posting shite in Facebook, then he probably never saw action.

You mean, out of the 10,000 people currently on this site, that 10 have said they know a SEAL and that is not ridiculous?

So fricking true.
In everything though, not just military.

I know some SEALS.
The majority that I know could clear a barroom in a brawl.
Most I know are solid guys you could always count on in battle or in life as a friend.
A few are batshit crazy.

I've had the opportunity to work with SEALS, former PJs, Marine Recon/Marsoc, and ODA guys.
SEALS are pretty cool if they're older and have been in the teams for a while. Younger ones are kinda douchey for the most part. If I'm being completely unbiased (I was a Marine), the coolest group I've got to hang out with were the Army ODA guys. They're pretty Badass but completely humble. Our units had a lot of mutual respect from one another but they were head and shoulders more capable than us.

According to SS, 10 is everyone

Yeah man out of the 10,000 users
Although there is less than 700 online right now and I doubt every single one is cruisning the OT
But yeah man a bunch of OTers just have known handfuls of Seals throughout the years who just tell them about their missions and shite.

Everyone grows up and stays in New Orleans/Louisiana/their home town their whole life like SS does.

I had a classmate who was a SEAL - about 5'5" and, maybe, 145 pounds. I wouldn't have recommended fricking with him, I can tell you that.

What?! You've moved around and traveled and meet people?!?!
I see why you have known mulitple seals throughout the years!!!

I know a Navy Seal. He is Dwayne Johnson's cousin. He was badass and a good guy/dad. We both left CA so I haven't seen him in a while.

What missions?

And I've done everything I can to show I know one besides just saying his name, so whatever. Who cares.

You shouldn't have to make anyone believe you, it's not like a SEAL is some mythical creature that should be put on the same pedals as an OT10. Even though there are a small amount percentage wise doesn't mean it's unbelievable that people know service members who did cool guy shite.
It's akin to saying I don't believe you know someone who served in the military because less than 1% of the population serves. That sound extraordinarily stupid.

I met one while working at NASNI on Coronado Island and he was this;
But everyone knew he was a retired SEAL. Very chill guy that never talked about himself. Big time family man.

Some of us are active or former military and had the opportunity to work with or at least share an AO with them.
