I travel there for work often. Our office is in near the foothills on the west side. If you have a family, the Highlands Ranch area is very nice. I've also travelled to DFW frequently. Take the job it's a no brainer. Colorado is great. Considering a move there in the next few years myself.

it's about half an hour light rail from golden which is east.
ditto from parker which is south.

the traffic is traffic. it's really easy to get into and out of denver. lots of open highway except in super peak hours.

my gf's family is from all over there. every time i visit (every few months) i ask myself why i don't live there.

I've heard it isn't too bad. It's probably like any big city traffic. A couple of the guys in my neighborhood travel to Denver for work and they have said it's not too bad.

Lucky bastard

Unless you have to live near the water..Colorado has everything else you are looking for..skiing/snowboarding, hunting and fishing, hot springs in the winter, and barhopping in the ski towns, that's a given..The summer is a blast, hiking, rock climbing, whitewater rafting, fishing(have even heard of people spearfishing), dirt biking/boarding the sand dunes, offroading, camping, etc. and nature galore. It's paradise, enjoy it! I will be up there soon enough

Also, look in Castle Rock. It's between Denver and the Springs. If you decide on the springs, monument is a great area.

Commute from the Springs into downtown? LOL, you'd want to kill yourself. On snow days that can turn into 3 hrs easy, on good days looking at at least an hour. It would get old quickly. Property here is expensive. You won't get a Texas sized house here for less than 800k. I moved here 5 years ago making about 120k, I couldn't afford to move here now making that same money. I have a wife and two kids. I bought a 30 yr old house 12 miles south of downtown just north of highlands ranch for 360k(2500 or so square feet). Houses in my neighborhood are selling for over 500k now and they are the original 30 year old house. So you need to sink at least another 100k into it to update it. You will also risk getting into a bidding war with someone moving here from CA that is paying cash.

I love Colorado Springs

I'd rather live there than Denver, but Denver is cool too

3 hours on a bad day huh? That almost sounds better than getting into a mountain of debt to finance a home. How's renting in the Denver area? I've come across some pretty good rates.

Are the recreational activities close to metro Denver or would I need to take a shuttle to get out there? TIA

It's completely barren. One of the first to fall. Carnivals inhabit the area. "The Road"

There are deals to be found but it can take a while.

We have been here a year and really lucked out on our place. 4th floor apt, huge balcony, great view of the city, great neighborhood. Cap Hill and Wash Park are my two favorite areas of town.
