I would work for somebody that does strictly equipment sales and not rentals
The thing is, all dealers offer rentals on earthmoving Equipmemt nowadays. But I will say this, doing a rental on something like a 777 rock truck out on a RPO to a National Account, like Vulcan Materials for example, is far different than renting a 289 compact track loader to Jimbo’s Landscaping & Stump Removal, LLC for a few days.

Oh I know I’m just saying don’t work for a company that only rents. I may have worded it wrong.

I gotcha. One thing that does set Cat Rental Stores apart from other rental places is they do also sale new CCE equipment.

Depending on your age it could help start your sales career.
I worked for a competitor of United right out of college, after 3 years I had 3 different promotions and then I scored a medical sales job.
Without the skills I learned selling with the equipment company I don’t think I would be as successful as I am now in Healthcare

I sold tools out of my truck to farmers in the late 70's, fences to poor people that could not afford them, (we got them financed). I sold decks, carports, whatever they would buy. I sold telephone systems in the mid 80's and finally found something that worked for me. 35 years later, I don't sell, they come to me. It takes a while to build your brand, (your name and reputation). Take the job, pay your dues and learn from it. Good luck.

You realize United bought out H&E a few years ago, right?

If you want to enjoy your life go for something that pays well, not for fun. Heavy equipment is a great product if you learn your product and enjoy people. Find a job as a service writer (PSSR, CSA, CSR, etc) where you get paid for parts and service sales. Once you have your skills honed go make $125-300 a year selling heavy machines.

They're going to put you in BFE Alabama or West TX
I've had some projects in the past in those areas and they go through sales reps, my guess is because of the locations

You’re right, United paid H&E to walk away from buying Neff and UR bought Neff.
quote:
United Rentals Inc. will buy regional equipment-rental company Neff Corp. for about $600 million after knocking another equipment company out of the bidding war. H&E Equipment Services had announced plans to buy Neff last month in a deal that valued Neff at about $500 million. But United Rentals said Thursday it paid H&E a $13.2 million fee to walk away.
