"Special Projects."
Where I will have to be "on site" to cater to events with needs of generators, lights, etc.
Buddy of mine started with United, did fair, and now is making a shite ton selling for a company he got to know while with them. So, the network could be valuable in some cases.

That means you’ll be working at a plant or on site temp “stores” or on site rental branch. You’ll never leave the site.
frick that. I wouldn’t take that shite

Definitely sounds worse than the job on i'm trying to get at the moment. I interviewed with professional sports team a couple weeks ago and it went very well. Sports...or generators. I'll take sports all day, everyday.

I work for a competitor and we are customer based, not territory based. I wouldn’t work in this industry if I was confined to a particular territory

Appreciate the feedback. Do you enjoy what you're doing?

Put you on salary.....with commissions at end of year. Don't sell shite, then about 6 months in you start taking a pay cut as they bridge you. Then you either get canned or you quit on your own and live in your truck.

No, I know MANY successful people who sell equipment as well. That is why I am trying to get more information. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it. I just think I would have more fun in the sports industry.

absolutely I do. I have flexibility on day to day activities and have a wide range of customers with different applications so that aspect makes it fun and interesting. There is lots of stress but that’s sales. United has been asking me to go sell for them but the company I work for is ESOP and our benefits surpass anything they can offer. We also get paid 5% commission and United is 2% I believe.

I did it for a competitor for a few years 15 years ago. My territory was Orleans Parish before, during and after Katrina. I went from making $50k a year to $150k a year literally overnight.
Once corporate saw that the reps were making more than the Branch, sales and regional managers they raised our quotas so it was almost impossible to make that kind of money anymore.
I drug up and went work for a family business and never looked back. Best descsion I ever made. However the 2.5 years I was there I don’t regret one but of it. I did learn a lot about being a sales rep the big national rental companies and got some damn good sales training.

That's a Cat dealer and I don't know any there in LA. If you want to stay in LA. that would be the one, or any other CAT dealer in the state you want to go.
If you want to work for Caterpillar the manufacturer they love college grads, requires moving around the country/world to advance, but they do well eventually and love what they do.
Great career either route, and many areas for sales. Machinery sales/rentals, Parts & Service, Technology with their SiteTech group, Financing, product groups, Marketing.

That's exactly what I am looking for. Really the only reason I was considering United.

Go CAT corporate then. Great product and stability.
Look at Marketing Rep, and Sales when you go to their site. Their training programs and growth is top notch.

What is your day to day like?
Did you pick your location?
How was the sales training program? I hear it's great.
Did you take the job out of college?
