Thinking about trying my hand at this. For every 1k views on a video, thats roughly 2 bucks. Twitch works by subscriptions. Imagine how great it would be to have this as your full time job?

Andre The Black Nerd

Andre the black nerd is my favorite dude to follow on youtube. What's going to be your subject matter?

Wow, that true ? Looks like Casey Neistat makes roughly $1400 a day -- over 500k a year on videos. Not bad.

I know a guy that plays on twitch for 10 hours a day and works for 8. He spends 18 hours a day on the weekends streaming.

And he makes about $20 a week.

1. You have to do something to stand out.

2. You have to keep at it for months and months before you will gain any type of following.

3. DO NOT do the "AYY YO THIS YA BOY LARRY THE GOLFER COMIN AT YOU WITH TODAY's ...." Nothing more annoying than a guy being too over the top and not funny. Be cool, and be funny while you give good, easily digestible information.

4. You have to keep at it for months and months before you will gain any type of following. Repeated because too many people start and don't see full time income after 2 months and think they won't make it.

5. Set a schedule. Stick to the schedule.

6. Have fun. If we think you are working, we will notice and not watch your stuff.

I know this is a troll thread, but for anyone who's thinking of doing this, I hope you have a really funny/interesting schtick that none of the other hundreds of youtube stars use.

And you are either really really really fricking good at a handful of games, or you are willing to buy new games every day/week.

I feel that becoming a youtube star is one of those things that seems easy (play video games and talk about it while playing) but in reality is a lot of work and takes a lot of effort to put out original content at least every couple of days. I remember seeing somewhere that for every hour you spend playing a game, it takes several more hours to write, edit, and upload. You may have to play a game for hours just to get 15 minutes of worthwhile content. Then you have to edit all that shite and make it flow.

Youtube won't pay the bills if you an average FPS player with nothing insightful or funny to say and don't know how to properly edit and produce your content.

It's not a gig where you can play video games for a couple of hours a day and sit back and count your money. The people who are making the big bucks are putting in 40 hours a week minimum (and they were doing that long before they could pay a single bill with Youtube revenue).

It will take months just to pay off the initial expense of buying all the recording equipment.

I have a friend that makes outdoor hiking/backpacking videos. He gets about 30k views per video. He says it's enough to pay for new gear. The best part is companies send him free gear to try out and review.

I know someone who has made around 10k on Twitch.

Set a schedule

Learn OBS/XSplit

Watch a ton of streamers, pick up on mannerisms

Read the chat

Have a decent internet speed (upload speed, not download, preferably greater than 2.5)

I know someone who gets at least 1mil views for most of his vids (reviews toys for kids )
he employs about 15 peeps, spends hours/days on a vid... but youd think theres only two of them running the channel

it would be a good idea if you choose the right audience and have the right content

i wouldnt do it though

I watch a lot of youtube gamers (Achievement Hunter, VanossGaming, Speedy) who also do twitch. Personally, I prefer their youtube stuff because I can watch on my own schedule and its edited down to the quality clips. These are people who make a lot of money off their videos but for the most part they're putting out new content every day. Many of them have done Q&A's where they give some insight into all the equipment and software they have to produce their videos. For the quality channels, its a lot more extensive than just recording some gameplay and uploading.

Yea. If you want to actually generate enough money to live off of, well you're going to have to because you won't have any time to work an actual job if you are running a channel that is getting 6+ figure views per video.

My very, very distant cousin overseas (same last name) is a Twitch streamer. She's apparently becoming pretty well known judging by her Facebook posts. If doesn't hurt that a) she's a girl & b) she's attractive, which I guess is rare?

One of my friends brothers signs autographs at conventions for this shite so I'm guessing he is pretty big with it

I just checked his youtube he has 12 million views and 76k subscribers from playing video games.

It used to be pretty rare. Twitch kind of cracked down on cleavage though. Somewhat.

Either way, the road to a success is much easier if you're an attractive female on Twitch.
