In Texas it's illegal to crank your car in your driveway to warm it up and go back inside.(defrost etc)
Same concept - unattended car
I do this all the time. Would they rather me drive with a solid sheet of ice on my windshield?

We only have so many officers in Baton Rouge. I'd really hope that cop has better things to do than waste time writing "unattended car" tickets at a dealership.
I have probably called in two or three obvious drunk drivers (zig-zagging across the interstate) throughout my years driving, and not once has a cop (LSP, EBRSO, BRPD) ever made an appearance. Yet they have 8 at BQuick at any given time.

I would have invoked citizen arrest rights as I guarantee the cop left his running while he exited the vehicle to write the ticket.

Happened to me (while my car was in my drive way) and countless friends while living in Nashville. They actively look for running , empty , vehicles in Davidson County. It's a money maker.

LA Rev Stat § 32:145
§145. Unattended motor vehicles
No person driving or in charge of any motor vehicle shall permit it to stand unattended without first stopping the motor, locking the ignition, removing the key, and effectively setting the brake thereon, and, when standing upon any grade, turning the front wheels to the curb or side of the highway.
Acts 1962, No. 310, §1.
That cop was a real prick though to write a ticket for that. Very chickenshit.

CO has a "puffer" law making it illegal on public streets.
Tell me more of this CO puffer law of which you speak. I thought that those were legal now.,.

ETC. So leaving your car in the driveway with the brake engaged is a crime. Or keys left in ignition?
The cop did all of those things to write the ticket! THAT is exactly why cops suck
