Anyone have experience with receiving a recall letter after making a repair?

Had an issue where my master cylinder was leaking about 8 months ago so I had to get it replaced. Get a letter today that my truck has had a recall issued for this same issue. Don’t know if they’ll reimburse me for parts & labor related to this and if they do, how much of a pain will they be to deal with. Curious if anyone else has dealt with a similar situation.

Was it done by a dealer?

If yes, take your receipt and recall letter back to the dealer and if the recall is the same reason you replaced the master cylinder, then yes you will be reimbursed.

If you have a receipt from a repair facility, dealer or not, take receipt to dealer. They can submit a claim and if legit, OEM will reimburse it to dealer and dealer will issue a check. If legit.

Recall letters usually address the question you just asked. Call the manufacturer and they should reimburse you if you have the receipt. Visiting the dealership is a no-go.

Ford thanks you for taking care of that on your dime.

I bought the parts from a ford dealership but had the work done somewhere else. I should be able to track down the records.

I didn’t see this issue referenced on the letter but I didn’t read through all the fine print.
