You guys realize that this is probably all a ploy to just get paid right? It’s a 2nd home bought a year ago, there’s little to no emotion involved.
Eminent domain usually pays fairly, 1.5x the value plus. Real estate in Pigeon Forge is likely tanking due to interest rates being way up and rentals being way down. She could likely buy a much better property with her payout.

That may be true, but then they complain not knowing the issues with the property. Had they been there boots on the ground they may have learned more, the neighbors all knew about the road coming through. Also, when they started the remodel inside and out, they gutted the inside and forgot to get the required permits for the remodel. Had they got those permits they would have known about the road then.
