The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency - when she heard about a way to speed up learning with something called trans-cranial direct current stimulation (tDCS). A couple years later, Sally found herself weilding an M4 assualt rifle, picking off enemy combatants with a battery wired to her temple. Of course, it was a simulation, but Sally's sniper skills made producer Soren Wheeler wonder what we should think of the world of brain stimulation.

Researchers claim that juicing the brain with just 2 milliamps (think 9-volt battery) can help with everything from learning languages, to quitting smoking, to overcoming depression.

Basically, with a small amount of electricity delivered to certain core parts of the brain, everything turns into a real life bullet speed like in The Matrix.

I want to do it, and then play guitar.

Click the pic and check out the podcast.

Would you try it?

I think it helps Depession but I don't have statistics to show how effective it is.

If the application for depression alone works, it could be groundbreaking.

I’m more intrigued at the idea of having a super brain for a day or two. Like I said, being hyper focused while learning some blues runs on guitar would be worth it.

The home brew stuff seems sketchy, but the lab in this podcast is here in Carlsbad, CA.

I’m tempted to fork over some cash and give it a go in a lab environment.

That sounds like something the coroner would whisper to his wife. We’re sorry ma’am but your husband was found with his pants around his ankles. It looks like he died from trans cranial direct current stimulation.

nothing new at all...electric shock therapy along with lobotomy were both used quite a bit in mental hospitals years ago.

They still use electro shock therapy. Very effective in treating depression. Much better applied than it was years ago. Now they have anti convulsion drugs and are able to monitor brain patterns as it is being applied.

Did any of you actually listen to the podcast?

Get back to me.

It’s not “electroshock”.
