Anyone ever had a PH Bravo test via an endoscopy?

My son is scheduled for one in the morning after his gastroenterologist recommended it. They’re testing for eosinophilic esophagitis but also want to monitor his heartburn symptoms. The doc told us it was an easy procedure and that he wouldn’t even notice the device. He should be able to eat normally within hours of the procedure. Further, he should eat foods that trigger his heartburn to get the best readings.
I’ve read that it can cause serious pain when swallowing and that it’s not going to be “back normal” a few hours after the procedure.
Anyone have any personal experience? I want to know how to best prepare for the next two days.

Yep, every two years.
I’m old so yes on the day of the endoscopy I have a sore throat deep in the esophagus where the doctor takes an etching (can’t think of the proper name). Next day I’m pretty fine. When I was younger they were easy recoveries. You might get some soft food ready afterwards like chicken noodle soup or soft noodles etc.

Doc told my wife her colonoscopy would be easy as well. A day later, we were in the ER getting another one because he cut an Arterial vein with the scope and she was losing a ton of blood. Nothing is easy when it comes to sticking a scope in your body.

That's terrible. And I have a endoscopy and a colonoscopy scheduled in the next couple of weeks.

You’re not helping.

One hell of a colonoscopy to cut something that doesn't even exist.

A co-worker just had it done. She said there was no pain, just an annoying sensation of feeling food rub past the device with every swallow.
She also had to wear an acid-reading external monitor under her clothes between her cleavage like she was Iron Man. The little device inside automatically detatched from her esophagus after a couple of days and she later pooped it out.

He’s definitely excited about two days of video games and getting to eat his trigger foods. Chocolate ice cream, loaded mashed potatoes, and pizza are on the menu.

Had it done recently. It was easy. I didn’t feel the probe at all.

Nice of you to make your first post to help a kid.
