halloween is not a holiday. Its stup, and a waste of time.

777,
Our neighborhood goes all out. Everyone tries to outdo their neighbor. It's a wonderful neighborhood to live in.
There are even houses that give out alcoholic shots to the parents (as long as they're familiar with you).
That's why it's important to make frequent appearances at the neighborhood pool and tennis courts during the summer!

a little bit different at ours, always a keg, some witches brew, etc., for the adults, always turned into a big party

Yes, I love to decorate for halloween! I set up a graveyard on the front lawn and the front courtyard is set up real spooky and has a fog machine. Then I set up the front room like a funeral parlor, the entry way table sets up like a mad scientist table, bathroom murder scene, living room mantle is a voodoo alter...adding the harry potter hall of candles this year.

Nice!
Do you make your own props or just accumulate a bit more each year?
I'm setting up a test projection right now. Give me about 30 - 40 minutes to hopefully provide an update and perhaps a few pictures...

some stuff I make, some I buy. The harry potter hall of candles I will make from scratch. The funeral parlor is completely made up. Make my own casket and use old costumes and masks to make the dead people mourners and stuff them with newspaper and packing materials. Last year, the girl from the ring was the piano player for the funeral. My front door wreath of snakes was hand made.
I'm very interested in the projection videos I've been seeing on FB. I really want those AtmosFEARfx projections.

Projections have added completely new elements to our haunt. I run phantasms in one window, bonechillers in another, and the pumpkin projections in the yard. Little ones love the singing pumpkins. We added a perfect storm thunder and lightning machine this year too.

ooooh I want to see video!

I'm using AtmosFEAR videos for my projections. My test was a great success! The fabric mesh I purchased at JoAnns is platinum grey bridal mesh. I purchased 4 yards, enough to cover a large floor to ceiling window. They have 50 percent off coupons on their website. With the coupon the 4 yards of mesh cost me about $15.
I used Zots sticky dots to quickly hang the mesh over my window. Worked perfectly since the mesh is very light weight.
I'll try to post the images tomorrow morning around 9 am Central. Im going to do more tests tonight and take more pictures...

Yes, please do! So yours are going to be projected so people outside can see phantoms in your windows? I like the idea of the phantoms inside swirling around the living room during a party.

Tonight I used the AtmosFEAR video Zombie Invasion because it was all our local spirit store had. I ordered Witching Hour and Phantasms online this morning and should receive them by the end of the week.
What I like about Zombie Invasion is that from outside the house looking in, it really gives the impression that your house is full of zombies or a ton of freaks acting like zombies (which is still pretty creepy).
A few people have already driven by and either stopped or turned around for a couple of additional looks. This is going to be fun!

I'm projecting from inside toward the window. The mesh is hung over the window to act as a screen.
I'll bump this thread tomorrow morning. I'm still messing around with angles. I want this to be perfect on Halloween weekend.

We do. The kids love it and that's pretty much what matters.

exactly.
How extensively do you decorate for Halloween?

I let the kids pick out a cemetery scene that they put up in the yard along with the skeletons coming out of the ground and even a damn skeleton dog
Also have one of those mechanical grim reapers, along with a giant bat, and a mummy coffin. They tend to go crazy with the spider web stuff and the spiders. This year they want to get a gargoyle for the yard and a vampire. Good grief the stuff they want...

From my wife's perspective it's, "Good grief that stuff he wants."

I'm digging the window scenes you posted. I may have to borrow that from you. The kids (well, and I) want something to scare the neighborhood kids.
Our little subdivision is pretty good. There are a few houses that really do it up. We had a lot of stuff out last year and this year we will see...

The window scenes are video projected but I'm still trying to figure out how to turn the video into gif format so I can post it here.
