Your experience showed nothing nefarious. There could have been any number of reasons why the waiter passed your wife by. Or he could have been a racist scumbag, you have no way of knowing. Again, experiences like that happen in mixed relationships. It's not a big deal unless you make it one. Perception is reality, as it were.

I took the same stance as you are taking despite my wife's claims. She tested it again with me at the table to show me and she was right. Yes it was an isolated racist a-hole but it happens. It was extremely upsetting for her and me trying to downplay it was a temporary blemish on our relationship. I don't bring it up then or now.

I wouldn't have tried to downplay it to my wife, I would have just said "frick that guy" and kept it moving. And my wife doesn't get bent out of shape about dumb shite like that.

I’m around minorities at work and society everyday. Most of them think what’s going on is a bunch of BS, but I also don’t go to areas or places where there could be unrest or possible problems.
I always aware of my surroundings an The individuals around me and I’m prepared if SHTF To at least protect myself and those around me. I’m not saying something won’t happen one day but I take every realistic preCaution I can.
Would I travel to any major population city right now that’s been on the news ? NO but then I’m not the typical person that’s runs towards trouble just to say I was there, saw it, or filmed it.
