Yes. HIGHLY recommend NOT join a money league and just join a drinking league.
1st year we were in a drinking league. A blast.
2nd year was a money league and we constantly got hate due to still being mainly beginners and getting better as league went on, which the handicapped drastically helped.
People take amateur bowling league way to serious when a couple bucks at involved
Went back to drinking league and been there ever since.

I'm in one now, have been for about 8 years. It's fun as long as you don't take it too serious. I don't pay my light bill according to how well I bowl but you would think some people do.
Depends on the house too, Gonzales is pretty nice although they are having a few maintenance issues. And you can get into it pretty cheap. Ball and shoes for a beginner are about 150 bucks.

was in several a long time ago.
our bowling leagues were a lot like softball leagues. Just another reason to get together and drink.
