purely for culinary and/or research purposes, of course?

anything special i need to get set up?

i really like hen and chicken of the woods, oyster, and enoki. will those grow in a synthetic environment?

I helped a chick grow psychedelic mushrooms for a little while, that shite is NOT easy and very time consuming. We gave up after only a couple weeks, never got a single thing to grow. I think keeping a sterile environment is the hardest part.

Friend did it in his closet in a fish tank in college with spores he got on the internet.

Worked crazy well. Grew off of these sponge towers he kept moist.

Purely for culinary purposes obviously.

ETA:

Actually I think he got the spores from mushrooms he found in a field. Internet ones didn’t work.

Spores from the ads in high times worked, had a few batches and it was a PITA. We ate a bunch of acid instead.

I've grown cubensis mushrooms before about two years ago - never grown any for culinary purposes but the method is the same.

I chose to grow them using a method called PF Tek - it's wasn't all that difficult. Probably cost $150 or so in materials (I opted to use a pressure cooker for sterilization purposes, so that was a big expense though not absolutely necessary). It's important to be painstakingly sanitary when mixing the substrates - gloves, rubbing alcohol, face mask, the whole shabang.

Mushroom spores of all kinds are perfectly legal to purchase online. It's a bit tedious and time consuming but not all that challenging.

Growing mushrooms is just like lying to your girl about your side piece

Feed them shite, and leave them in the dark

Any moist cowfield early in the morning in the the months of April and May should be prime psilocybin hunting ground.

Not really no, just air tight fish tank, water, and sponges I think. Gotta keep in dark too.

It was a pain in the butt.

Feed and spray kill them for the most part now.

Not the hunting grounds it used to be.

Took my old fish tank and put a couple runs thru in my closet a while back. It's a pain in the arse. Have to practice sterilization like youre about to perform surgery. Humidity is a pain in the arse keeping in line. I could never get a decent enough product to justify doing it. Rather just go to Whole Foods

Check out the PF Tek it was very successful for me in the past. Few tips:

- Search around online for a website that sell spores that has decent reviews (you’ll want to be able to see a good amount of spores when shaking the syringe before innoculation)

- I prefer sterilizing the cakes in a pressure cooker

- You want to do the innoculation process in an extremely sterile environment (do it in a small bathroom and load up on Lysol)

- Invest in or build a decent incubator

- After birthing the cakes you’ll want to soak them for 24hrs and then I found the dunk n roll technique to be very successful (roll them in vermiculite)

- I used a large plastic bin for my fruiting chamber and drilled holes all around it about an inch apart (obv not the bottom) and kept in a dark room

- Be sure to keep them moist w a spray bottle

It might take a batch or two to get the hang of it, but it’s really easy once you do and you’ll yield more than you ever need.

There are a ton of different techniques and some are much simpler than this process. This is just what worked for me.
