I know a couple of State Farm agents, and know how they spend a month in Europe with their families on the company dime. It's why you *must* shop this stuff at least annually with the conventional companies.

Anyone who gets a rate increase for no reason should be doing this. If you get a rate you are comfortable with then ok, but not shopping it is crazy.

I have.

For some reason my daughter was removed from my auto insurance. I tried adding her back through the app and it won't let me. I tried doing it from my laptop and it wants me to call them to make any changes.

Apart from claim filing once every 10 years ads you having that much interaction with your bank? Most items can be done online so what exactly are you having to interact with them continually for?

I've always had a decent experience even using the chat feature in the app. They were trying to take me for a ride with LA insurance, they wanted $300/month full coverage on one truck and after moving to TX dropped it to $140.

At least you still speak to an American when you call.

I had them for a good while. Insurance rates kept going up. Switched to SF.

Unfortunately yes, their customer service has declined. They aren't as timely as they used to be but I don't buy the woke stuff as the reason. Other insurance companies used to not be able to touch them when it comes to rates but now they can be beat

USAA used to be great. It is a shadow of its former self. 30+ years with them.

I don't think weak customer service is isolated to any one company. It's the standard now with just about any business. As I get older I get less tolerant of people who don't value your time and/or your money.

For the lazy,

USAA’s troubles hit a new low when S&P Global Ratings downgraded its financial strength rating from AA+ to AA, following Moody’s decision to drop USAA’s rating from Aaa to Aa1 on May 19. The culprit? Persistent issues with USAA Federal Savings Bank, which has attracted regulatory scrutiny and suffered financial losses. S&P pointed to “new or continuing violations of law, rule, or regulation” flagged by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) in December 2024, noting that the bank’s compliance failures have eroded USAA’s overall earnings diversity. Up until 2020, the bank contributed roughly $1 billion annually to USAA’s pretax income, but since then it has posted average annual losses of $236 million. These financial stumbles, combined with a weakened resilience compared to peers, led to the downgrade.

Seems like these are some good problems to not have.

a few (or more) years ago a couple of named storms hit the Baton Rouge area within a week or two of each other. my mom lives north of baton rouge in Pointe Coupee

a tree fell on her house between the storms and not during wither of the storms

they tried to charge her the 'named storm' deductible which is significantly higher than the normal deductible. it was the first claim she had made since my dad and her built the house in 1974.

I (and my mom) still have USAA home owners insurance b/c of the insurance climate in LA, but that situation was quite aggravating and time consuming.

Bought a house a few years ago with USAA and they sold my mortgage before I could even pay the 1st note.

Still pissed...

Only complaint I have with USAA is their auto insurance is higher than giraffe pussy. Customer service has been decent.

Replaced two roofs through them and maybe 3 minor car accidents over 25+ years.

I have no personal issues with them and everything went smooth. There might be better options now, but USAA was among the best at using mobile for everything.

The grass is always greener, until it is not.

I am about to leave them. Had an issue the person on the other end of the line had an attitude, this was “customer service” I was dealing with. I told her she needs to understand her position, she of all people can’t get cross with customers. She didn’t get it.

Not at all. Worked with them this week on a car accident repair where the other driver was illegal and uninsured. USAA was great helping me through the process. The body shop grabbed me when I picked the car up and said the same.

wtf...

How often are you calling your insurance company that you can sense a change in their customer service? And assuming it's very seldom, how do you know you just didn't get the wrong person one time?

I've been with them for years and I may have called them once? Twice MAYBE?
