Very liberal place. Expect to have these liberal beliefs forced on you at work and your kids will go to a woke school. Very high weirdo/freak population is present there. Expensive property tax and expensive cost of living. Infrastructure that sucks. Hope you like traffic. Only major league team is MLS. Crime rate that is increasing every year. Very crowded. Austin is not what it was 15 or even 10 years ago. Many people are leaving as the California herd continue to arrive.

Try looking at Boerne. Not 30 mins to downtown Austin (it’s closer to 1 hour). But it’s a great family area with excellent schools, beautiful hilly terrain and an award-winning downtown. Property taxes are fairly low for TX in unincorporated Kendall County.

Here is a decent map that shows where the hill country area is. Some areas are much more hilly than others.

You never truly acclimate to the heat. Seriously, it was 103 at 6:30 this evening when we left to go to dinner.

Not joking at all, don't move here from California. People here are absolutely sick of the California invasion and don't want anymore here. I know people who have said they will cut off any car on the road they see with Cali plates and try to piss them off.

30 mins from Downtown is the killer. No new construction and Austin Proper is more expensive.
I'm out in Georgetown. 3000sqft. New construction on an acre for 8
