Instead of using readers?

Or is multifocal a bs gimmick?

FWIW I tried progressive lenses and couldn’t see shite near or far.

They work great for me. A little fuzziness at intermediate distances but my far distance and reading distances are suprb. It's 30 feet or so that can be a little fuzzy. Right eye is distance and left eye is closeup.

I've got one. It's an experiment. I am not sure I dig it.
Astigmatism in one eye prevents me from having it in both.

I've wore multifocal lens for about 10 years without any issues. As I've aged I've had to get my prescription changed such that I have multifocal lens that are weighted so that one eye is for distance and the other near. This last adjustment has taken some time to adjust.

Just wear one contact if you need readers.

I put a multifocal in my dominant eye and my regular prescription strength (-)3.75 in the other. Don't need cheaters for the most part anymore.

I have then and they definitely make a difference. Sometimes I have to use readers for very small or faint print though.

Currently use and can see close and far away with no issue.

I have them...one stronger than the other for dominant eye. They've worked well for me.

Don’t you still need ‘readers’ if you get LASIK for distances vision?

I could be way off but I looked into LASIK recently and thought I read that.

I can see distance well enough. The closeup stuff is blurry af and need cheaters.

I don’t think LASIK helps with blurriness does it? I wouldn’t have the surgery anyway. I only have a me good eye, the other has been f’ed up since birth.

Got 'em. Like 'em. It's g-damn voodoo if you ask me but they work. Give em a week to let your brain adjust.

OP, everyone here is describing MONOVISION contacts (one eye for distance and a stronger prescription in the other eye for reading)

That's very different than MULTIFOCAL contacts.

Just FYI

I have them as well.. they do take some getting used to to, brain has to work a little more to sort out conflicting images images or whatever you want to call it but a couple days and it becomes automatic.

Only issue is I cannot wear them at night for driving.... every light gets flared/starred and screws up my depth perception.

Don’t play any sports with them. Jacks up depth perception and vision isn’t uniquely focused across distances.
