Careful now, the OP may be a psychotic wench for all we know.
I've been called something like that before... HOWEVER, in this case I am a protective great aunt who is watching a wonderful little boy's life being totally upended and he is suffering for it. My intentions here are pure; as a woman who was never able to have children, my niece and her son are like daughter and grandson to me. I would give my life for them.

He obtained "emergency" custody in Jun during summer visitation based on a minor incident.

What was the minor incident?

He gave false testimony during the hearing but the court with the help of the GAL gave him temporary custody.

Can you prove that? Showing him as a habitual liar doesn't mean he lied to the court.

Ive dealt with the same thing, PI's, GAL, and lawyer. Our PI was good, but they are 2 hours North of Cbus. My lawyer was a joke and just ripped us off.

The minor incident was he was out playing with friends in the apartment complex. When his friends went inside, he went to the adjacent complex to find another friend he went to school with. A neighbor brought him back to my niece's place then called DHR.
The agency began an investigation and sent my niece and her boyfriend for drug testing; both were clean. They were then required to attend parenting classes which they completed. Nothing else could be done because my nephew mentioned it to his dad at the beginning of summer visitation. He then waited three weeks and passed the court-ordered return date to file for emergency custody which Ohio granted. He's been there ever since.

We filed a motion with the state of Alabama to petition for a change of venue so all the facts could be presented in court. Ohio denied that motion. We're also fighting to get those records released to the court in Ohio so we can show he wasn't severely neglected. The judge in Alabama lost in the recent election, so now we're in limbo.

And yes, I have proof he lied to the court in his sworn affidavit as well as testimony during the ECO based on him running his mouth on Twitter and GoFundMe.

Yup...same here...GAL seems to be advocating for father instead of child. Our lawyer is getting her arse handed to her. I've contacted another law firm today.

Sorry you went through this as well. I had no idea how absolutely ugly gets...it's pure insanity.

Interesting. I know you said he'd lived in AL for 7 years of his life, but I wasn't clear on whether he was only 7 or lived elsewhere before that time.

7 is pretty young. Was he playing in the complex unattended by an adult?

The GAL must believe Daddy if Daddy has lied about matters material to the case.

Family law matters are a nasty business. Went through hell with my brother and his 6 year old child when he divorced. Lots of lying went on. Good news was she did drugs and all my brother's lawyer had to do every time she filed crap was have my brother take a hair test and request that the court order her to take one. Cases magically went away.

He is 8 yrs old. Has been living in AL since he was 1 after father abandoned him and mother on Christmas day.

Was playing with some kids in front of my niece's building. Boyfriend was watching him because niece was working. BF didn't go a very good job apparently. BF has since left because of this.

Yes, family law is nasty. Lots of lies; father admitted on Twitter he has a mental problem he keeps getting misdiagnosed. Brought up in affidavit; court doesn't seem to care.

Lies were all brought to GAL's attention; he doesn't seem to care.

Work in downtown Cols. w/a cabinet agency and am involved cases with gov't atty's and investigators, both in house and with the AG's office. Some of the opposing (private sector) counsel and investigators work with are sharp, have good connections, and work at large firms that have expertise in custody cases. We can't moonlight, but I can make a couple of calls. These guys won't be cheap. However, I agree w/a poster above, it's highly unlikely the judge has any ties although the possibility opposing counsel has presented cases before her certainly exists, esp. if the Dublin father is smart. You may want to consider an litigator who has successfully tried cases w/this judge. It may be time to seriously lawyer up, even if you need to finance one. A lot may depend on how much $$$ you throw at this. Def. call the Ohio Bar Association . I'd advise spending the PI cash on an experienced family law atty. One who this judge has (favorably) heard cases from. I can tell you Dublin is quite hoity/toity, plenty of old (and new) cash up there. (he may have $$$ regardless of the GoFundMe campaign). Post on this thread if you want follow up, I'm not usually logged on and won't see a pm for yrs. Or try TDkicks@yahoo.com

Thank you! Two questions: (1) How do I find out which lawyers have had favorable rulings with this particular judge? (2) When you say this will cost $$$, can you give me an estimate on the range we're looking at.
I will email you later tonight.

You're welcome. (1) Ask. Always sit down before paying anyone and play the trial attorney part-in your case, you may need to do this over the phone-ask the hard questions. If you don't like the answers, keep shopping. Just like w/any kind of shopping, investigate and know the product before you buy. (2)Notwithstanding what you've already shelled out, expect upwards of a 5K retainer and 10K for a favorable resolution to your case-and those are estimates, I'm not directly involved in custody cases and try not to involve myself in what the defendants are paying in the cases I am involved with. All that's based on if they think it's a defendable case once presented w/the facts. How soon do you need this/when's your next court date? Let me know in your email. I'll be busy with field work and am out of the office through Friday, in the deer stand Sat & Sun (the rut is on big time!), then back in the office on Mon. Barring any castastrophic case meltdowns I can put out some feelers then. Good luck w/whatever route you go with and let the board know how things turn out. It may be a while until it's resolved. I'll get back to you on your email this weekend.

Thank you! You've given me some great information. Our trial is 23-24 Feb. He's now fighting us on holiday visitation so we're dealing with that. We definitely need better representation, so I truly appreciate your help. I will be in touch. Enjoy your weekend of hunting.

I've never had to deal with anything like this in my life; we've done our best but we recognize we need help.

I did email you with a couple other questions...disregard the first two as you've answered them already.
