My uncle flew "The Hump" in World War II. Got lucky as they took him out of the plane and put him on the ground working on the planes. Most likely saved his life as not well supplied in that part of the war and planes went up that should not have. Air Corps was part of the Army and Air Force did not exist till later.
If he was flying that part of the world would have been the Japs, not the Krauts, so the German stuff is out of place but interesting. I would trot down to the local American Legion and ask the old timers who are still around. Maybe put a note with each and get a safe deposit box at the bank and put some silica pellets in there to protect from moisture as they are cloth. Pass them down in your family as they are part of their history.

I wish I could remember more of his stories and wrote them down but when you are a kid you think you will have them around forever. My Grandad was a honorable man and tough as hell but when I gave him some pictures of the Tennessee and a book about history of the ship for Christmas he couldn't speak for a moment and got tears in his eyes. He finally said " This is too much that it was one of the best gifts ever. "

My dads from WWII. Sorry for the crappy pic.
He was in the 112th Cavalry Regiment, known as The Little Giant of the Pacific. Hard to see but dad joined June 19, 1941 and was discharged on August 16, 1945. They went through some intense engagements (Driniumor River) and that's a hell of a long time to be in active service.
If the bomb would not have been dropped and Japan surrender, the 112th would have been part of the invasion force for the island of Japan.

Love seeing old militaria, my grandfather and great-grandfather both served in the cavalry, my great-grandfather saw the transition from horse to mechanized during WW2. I have both of their footlockers and it will be a big project for me to sort through everything. One thing I got done recently was finally getting this framed from my great-grandfather's items.
