My parents best friend had his own cessna and air strip. He would let me take off and fly but never made it as far as landing. Wish I had put the hours in to learn. It was a great opportunity.
We had some epic dove hunts on his land using that Cessna.
I can binge watch the show Mayday. Like someone mentioned a large percentage of crashes are due to pilot error. I watched the one where the Russian hockey team was involved. They ran the plane all the way to the end of the runway and beyond in the grass trying to take off. Reason they couldn't take off was because the co pilot had a medical condition where his legs would go numb. He was pushing down on the brakes keeping the nose down without knowing he was doing it.

I don't do anything where I if I make one mistake I die. Same reason I don't do motorcyles.

Get a supercub with tundra tires. You have to be pretty inept to screw up in one of them.

I love to fly. I have a Bonanza. My trip from Tomball to New Orleans is between an 1#% and 2 hours.

If so, I live 5 minutes from there

My buddy has a bonanza. We are flying to the beach in it in a couple of weeks.

If you want to see a little more of the technical aspects of flying this guy has a pretty good channel where he explains a lot of stuff while doing a flight.

Having been down several times in a helicopter and I am also fixed wing rated, I prefer the rotary wing, to me their are more options for survival
Of course the old joke goes: How can you tell the difference between a Rotary wing pilot and a Fixed wing pilot, the Rotary wing pilot has a furtive look of anxiety because he knows if something has not gone wrong, it is about too

Since I am in Ft Worth I see the F35s zipping around all the time, guess they are testing them before delivery. That would be a cool job, more to do.

Fixed wing single engine can be flown by anyone
Rotary wing, not so much. Good eyes steady hand and enduring death wish required
