Forty years old, not fat. If anything, getting into better shape as of late. I’ve noticed some veins around left ankle in recent years, but lately it seems to have gotten much more noticeable, all the way to mid calf area. Some minor swelling and soreness at times, too.

Is this something that can be reversed without surgery? Or is my only option to try and prevent it from getting worse? Curious about others experience. TIA

Simple outpatient procedure can take care of that. It’s very common for people who are on their feet all day to get dat.

Holy crap how fat are you?

I can read, so a better question is have you had circulation and all that checked?

Not yet. Got referred to a vascular doctor so I guess they’ll check that when I go. EKG during physical was great, it’ll that matters. Just curious what I’m getting into. Pleased with responses so far!

Yes. Getting a few. I’m 37. None of the huge ones that rope back and forth but some more noticeable green ones with a few capillaries going off of them. I’ve squatted and deadlifted for the last 20 years so that could have something to do with it along with being on my feet all day in the hospital. Started wearing running compression socks on my long days and will probably get them fixed in a year or so.

A lot of times it’s genetic.

Prevention: many people wear compression socks

Cure: various medical procedures

Had some develop in my mid-30’s just in my lower left leg. My brother(a doc) said I should get them looked at. Went and saw a vein specialist and after a quick ultrasound, he said the blood wasn’t circulating properly and zapped my saphenous vein shut from just above my knee on the inner thigh...also cleaned up some nasty looking veins in my left calf. Started back running and a couple years later blew it back open, so he went in and zapped it from my goin area and cleaned up some more. Quit running and picked up golf clubs. Just a hereditary trait passed down on my mother’s side. Had my first procedure when I was 36 and had my second one when I was 39...now 47.

BTW...I’m 5’11 and weigh 175#’s and have never been above 190...genetics suck sometimes.

Here’s what I had done...endovenous laser ablation.
