Just because you are bored out of your mind with the same routine? Me and the wife have been seriously discussing it lately. In our 30's with no kids yet. Now is the time.
That's what I call the geographic cure and it works for me. In my late teens I grew bored after graduation and took off for Alaska. Amazing adventures and great memories. i stayed there for years.
2 decades later, after my divorce I took off to go live in a camp on the water. I loved it there. Was there for years and then Katrina came and I was up in the air again.
So I headed for New Orleans and found the love of my life. We had a few happy years before he died. Then i needed to move because everything there reminded me that he was no longer there and I needed to move away from that.
Here I am in the boonies. Met my husband and within days Gustav slammed us. We had an amazing time riding out the storm and running a shelter, then weeks of giving out supplies after. Then a few months of doing roofs for people who needed them badly. Never expected that but that's the fun of it.
To me, life is an adventure. You already have your wife there with you to experience the adventure with you. Some of the worst experiences of my life were pretty great because of who was there with me. We could laugh as we watched everything go wrong because we were together.
If you are not quite sure yet, why not just go on a scouting mission. Get some time off work, lock up the house and take off on a road trip to places you think you might like and check them out.
My adventuring is not done yet. I see a camp or a houseboat in my future, probably with my bestie. We will leave the guys behind and take off.
Sometimes the geographic cure gives you a whole new perspective in life and offers you experiences that you never even imagined.
Go for it!

My wife and I talk about this all the time. Might just up and do it one day.
