Looking for a good set of paint brushes for the wife for Christmas. Don't mind paying for quality.
She won't use the 4" brush to paint the shed but she uses those little brushes that are good for getting the saw dust out of my skill saw. Go figure?

Thanks...

Are you looking to hire a painter or are you looking for a painter's recommendations for paint brushes?

suggested paint brushes to buy her. She's pretty good but refuses to spend too much money on supplies. Figured a nice set of brushes would make her happy.

Most good brushes don't come in a set. What is her medium?
If you are in NO or BR, go to Mo's art supply and they can help you. I use all types of brushes depending on what I'm doing.

You don't need the best brushes available but you don't want them to shed. It really depends on medium.

Ok. After Googling medium... Mostly just the little canvasses she buys from Hobby Lobby. Sometimes she paints on wine bottles (kinda cool). Think the paint is latex but not sure. Cleans up easy if that helps?
I'm not far from NO so going to Mo's would be doable. If not a set, what sizes? Also, should I buy her something else to paint on? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

One medium I enjoy painting are old fence boards. They have a rustic, weathered, ruff-hewn quality that accentuates the religious themes I paint.

I don't paint on canvas or glass, certainly not old alcohol containers. I did spread paint in clear glass ornaments a few years ago, but I didn't use a brush for that.

Gordon's of Metairie (used to be Eric's of Metairie) just reopened at 4306 Waverly. They certainly could help you with the finer brushes.

This place hasn't been the same since Eric got in that boating accident.

I'm guessing you mean acrylic paint that cleans up with water.
Hobby Lobby has all their Masters Touch brushes 50% off until close on Saturday.
Pick ones that say for acrylic paint

1/2 " flat
1/4 " flat
1/4 " angled
1/2 " angled
2 round one small , one medium sized
1 very small round ( for details)

If she does any larger canvases , I would get a 1" flat also.

Hope this helps
