Really? Apparently I’m not the vegan I thought I was. I have three dogs. Guess I need to rethink some things.

Certain Vegans in Portland allow pet owners if the pet is a rescue. Thus giving it a better life to the alternative.

I'm not sure all believe that way here, but it seems enough do.

Portland..such a weird fricking place. I love Oregon. Bend, especially. But Portland...I’ll fly in there and get out to the mountains ASAP.

What if it was ethnically sourced? If the bees were 100% undisturbed in the extraction process, because they make hives now where that is a possibility.

Strangely I've heard that be the 1 thing people are on the fence about.

I'm from new Orleans so the weirdness here doesnt bother me. I'm so used to seeing fricked up things, that its actually relaxing here.

Lots of petty theft though, but I'll take that over petty murder.

I wouldn’t have a problem with that. I’m not one of those hardcore vegan weirdos. I appreciate their passion (to an extent) but I’m not one of em. I even understand the need to hunt from time to time.

That guy would have been totally justified shooting those people.

Police don't take an oath to the mayor. The police sitting on their hands are a disgrace and should be stripped of their badges.

Like I said, it's a [large] subset. Not all of them. Do you consider yourself an actual vegan or do you just eat a vegan diet?

And if they don't comply with the mayor, they get fired. When it comes down to feeding their families or letting Antifa run amok, which do you think they're going to chose?

I guess it’s debatable depending on the context. Definitely for food and I try as much as I can to not do products tested on animals or with any animal products. Leather included. I do understand it’s not entirely possible to do this as even our food harms insects, etc.

I’m also the only vegan in my house. I’ll still grill a steak or whatever for the wife and kids.

Which is why State Police should get involved. They can tell the Mayor to get fricked.

Yeah, it's pretty much impossible. Lots of insects and small animals die as a result growing produce.

I'm also the only vegan (I usually just call myself a strict vegetarian) in my household but my wife and son probably eat 85% veg. I also buy and prepare meat for them and still love to grill and BBQ.

I've done a few Google searches and couldn't find anything, so I'll ask here. Is there any proof outside of the claims made by the police union chief that any "stand down" or hands off order has been given by the mayor or police chief? Both have publicly denied there being such an order.

And others, including the President of the FOP say they were.

Not to mention the Police Chief is a political critter and the right hand "man" of the mayor. Of course they'll be in lockstep.

However, even taking aside the "he said she said", the fact remains the police did, in fact, not do anything for several of the Antifa "protests" that resulted in assault on both people and property.

Someone has instructed the police to be hands off. They just don't sit back and watch that shite happen without being told to do so.

Maybe one of them did give such an order, but just seems like this union guy has a bone to pick with teh mayor and is stirring shite up. I've seen plenty of videos from some of the events where police are taking action, implementing crowd control, blocking streets, standing between the 2 factions, and even arresting people. Those actions don't really line up with any stand down order.

Could they have done, and be doing, more? Probably.
