Idiots are everywhere. No need to give them attention for many pages and do hypocritical things to try to make your point.

He did seek treatment for drug addiction. He did not seek treatment for alcohol addiction and continued drinking.

True story. And you very rarely come off as a hypocrite. Pretty rare around here.

So ignore them. And maybe call out the idiots on your side.

When did this become a "sides" deal. You do realize you are spreading the exact problem with this country when you break us down into specific tribes or political affiliations from the jump. It immediately makes this a "us vs them" conversation. Which doesn't help anyone in the long run.

most of the assholes celebrating have no interest in the things that made Bourdain's shows so appealing to the rest of us.

Yep. His show was about showing other cultures that many of us never would even think about. There is no chance I would ever be able to visit all of these places so its interesting to hear the locals talk about the history and the culture. Really drives home the point that all of these places have rich histories rather than just being a spot on a globe

Wow, way to completely miss the point.

Correct me if I'm wrong. But didn't he talk about his drinking issues in interviews? Obviously high levels of drinking don't help depression on mental issues. I just remember Bourdain discussing his on mortality and that would have on his child a great deal.

You've done this in threads before. The entire idea of policing other people with somewhat similar political ideas as your own is pretty unproductive. Especially on a message board like this one.

Calling out both sides for the idiots among them, yes I have done that.

Well then by all means, carry on with the hypocrisy.

I found it bizarre that he was an acknowledged addict yet continued to drink. It's a major trigger and potential crossover.

Went through a similar situation with my wife's cousin, who ended up taking his own life a little over a year ago. He seemed so happy and normal and in control in the weeks leading up to it. It truly is tragic.

He did. He's always had addiction problems.

He was bound to go back down the rabbit hole though. Being a recovering drug addict and drinking like he did had to put some serious weight on his mental state

I believe he was a heroin addict at one point.

Pissed he is gone. He was on my Top Five Person I Want To Drink With list.

he literally made multiple shows about him traveling the world and dealing regularly with people who have different point of views. He literally just went to west Virginia and was VERY complimentary

I wasn't a fanboy of him like some on here obviously are, but that is what I found attractive (for lack of a better word) about his show. As much of a charming, arrogant a-hole as he could be, he would treat some Third World chef or backwoods cook with respect and seem to take a genuine interest in them.

If I start again, I'll be dead within a year. Either by abuse or choice.

I think the first drink might be enough to put me into a deep depression. It's definitely giving up on life.
