LOL

I remember when East St.Louis, Illanoy had such a bad fleet, that they would literally have to scrap cars to use for parts. 2/3 of their cars didn't work, it looked like a junk yard.

Also, the Cops would have to pay for gas. No reimbursement, they paid with their own credit card or cash. No pay for gas, car didn't move, car didn't move, you were sent home, and patrol down another car for the night.

And to make things even worse, their lot was behind station, and shitheads would break into the police officers personal cars to boot.

It's a combination of sharpening pencils on budgets and losing 93 cars in a single week. It's not really rocket science to figure out how this happened. Especially if they are waiting on FEMA funds

I work at Morgan County S.O. In Alabama. Our crooked county commission has refused to buy a single new patrol car since 2009. Without duct tape and zip ties we'd be walking.

Holy shite. Eight years is old for many personal vehicles, much less a car that gets beat up every day for 12 hours per day.

Are you stuck in ancient Crown Vics?

2008 Vic, it's probably the best one we've got, only 179k on the clock. We've got a few 2014 Explorers, the sheriff had to dip into discretionary funds to get those. Even though the commission is constitutionally bound to fund the S.O., they have refused.

Why don't you leave? There are some great departments just south of you. Go join Hoover or Vestavia Hills.

Close relationship with the Sheriff and some of the brass. Wife also works there. Other than issues with the commission, it's the most rewarding job I've worked. I work in the civil division, M-F, dayshift. My direct supervisor is retiring this Fall, promotion headed my way.

The guy that is retiring has been there 36 years, and was the only person that really understands all aspects of the civil law side. I was hired to learn his job, and take over so he could retire.

What's a decent area. I'm familiar with Donaldsville a little bit. But to be honest it's been a long time man.

The cars last a lot longer if only one person drives it. Those miles back and forth are easy miles compared to work miles.

The department I worked for paid a lot more and we had a pretty good fleet of cars

You can't call bullshite because:

#1. Undercover units arent tricked out

#2. You wouldn't know it was an undercover car to begin with if it was in fact an undercover unit.

#3. If you are talking about an unmarked unit, you wouldn't know if it was a BRPD unit or not because it wouldn't have any markings on it
