I had to put my 13 year old black lab down a month ago as of yesterday and I’m still not totally over it. They found a large abdominal tumor on a Sunday at the emergency vet, and while waiting to see the oncologist vet on Monday morning, his red blood cells bottomed out. We rushed over there at 4 AM and we’re able to be with him in his final moments. It absolutely gutted me, but I’m glad I was able to be there with him to see him through. I feel your pain, brother.
Nearly the same thing happened to us back in August. Chocolate lab had a tumor removed from near his neck. Vet found out it was wrapped around his carotid artery. Took us completely by surprise. Let him go while he was still under the anesthetic. Only 7 years old. We have another dog, but he was my boy. Miss him every damn day.
