There are only 279 in operation or delivered since 2017. That's not a good start for the 737 MAX. I was on a MAX 8 a couple days after the Tiger Air incident, and while the plane was nice, especially for a SW plane, it still made me a little nervous.

The 787 also is a brand new plane with a ton of issues but the plane is still a massive success and will be in the sky’s for the next 40-50 years
