In the OT's court, she might be Not Guilty

quote:
The owner of an animal hospital and an alleged accomplice have been indicted in what prosecutors describe as a prescription drug scheme that used a dead dog’s name to obtain narcotics.
A Lorain County grand jury indicted Dr. Kris L. Taylor, 62, of Strongsville, and Camile Nieto, 29, of Avon, on seven counts, according to an indictment obtained by 19 News.
The two are accused of taking part in a scheme at Landings Animal Hospital to repeatedly write and fill prescriptions for oxycodone and the anti-anxiety drug Alprazolam in the name of “Punkin,” a dog that was already dead, the indictment says.

Points for ingenuity and originality. Probation, a $1,000 fine, and community service at an animal shelter. Next!

We are, overall, morally bankrupt.
Why do people do this? I don't think this is an especially heinous thing to do comparatively, but is there a missing mechanism here?
I can't imagine doing this. I have done things in the past that I look back on and try to do better, especially as a younger person, but as a grown adult I can't imagine doing something that so obviously lacks integrity.

At least the dog was dead already.
Knew of a gal back in the day who was taking her ancient beagles pain meds and ended up in rehab. Poor dog was suffering so she could get her fix.

I’m sort of shocked this doesn’t happen more often
Not for the oxy though since you can’t call that in
But definitely people calling in some Xanax for a dogs rx.
Vet offices hate giving out their DEA number even though it’s required when calling in Controlled scrips. They make it like I’m asking for their firstborn child

Raised properly. God is with you.

We had a dog that needed a narcotic Rx. I couldn't believe how cheaper it was to have the vet write an Rx and use the GoodRx app at Walgreens then to buy it from the vet.
