$500,000 for THAT?!?!? They said hemorrhoid sad a diagnosis and she took a shot in the dark with it. It's not like they told the dude he had AIDS.
They instructed assistants to lie to the patient in more than one way and to lie in his charts about diagnosis.
They also talked about avoiding the patient during recovery.
That's some serious hippocratic violation there.

The malpractice insurer needs to buy that person a weekend in Vegas

So he gets 500k for being a whiny a-hole.
All you people who think that Murca is going to hell in a handbasket, this is the kind of shite you ought to be focusing on.

The amount of "making fun" that goes on behind patients' backs is pretty alarming.
I saw some of that during my surgical clinicals in nursing school.

I didn't read the entire article. I listened to the tape.
The OT does not mess around. The girls FB page will be posted and she will be asked to post pics here soon.

He got 500k because the medical team intentionally lied to him and in his charts about diagnosis and other things.
That's pretty big deal.
Not saying its 500k at all, but they should definitely lose their license over that.
The mocking while he's unconscious should not be punishable at all.

I didn't call them assholes unintentionally
i was wondering why no one got it

Yeah that is what they are gonna get slammed for. Making fun of your patients isn't good bedside manner and certainly not professional....but it isn't worth awarding a guy 500k for.

I didn't read it, I'm in a bad internet zone today with some links not being able to load.

Well duh. I do it too, as do most medical professionals that I've known. It's just a coping mechanism.
The lying-to-patients thing has no place anywhere though.

To a certain extent it is. I don't make fun of the children I care for....but we have made fun (at the nurse's station and not in earshot of other family members) of really obnoxious parents of patients. It's how we cope with having a stressful night at work and helps us to vent in a way and better deal with difficult people.
ETA: But while in surgical clinicals I can remember hearing a surgeon call his patient a "whale" while operating on her.

you'd be surprised what goes on in Surgery...
mostly the RN's come in count shite, lay things out..
Patient comes in either Very Relaxed or totally Out...
Depends on dynamics of the crew, but usually RN's talking day to day things or DR's just BSing...
the patient is simply an assembly line job...
they care not about making fun of you (very risky),...too tied up in their phone E selves.

Not surprising at all. People joke around in the OR all the time, just like they do in any other workplace.

I bet a lot of naked, unconscious, drugged out men weren't showing too well in those cold hospitals
