And before anyone says anything, the top rated states generally are more homogeneous, less diverse. Even a state like New Jersey is over 70% white. These top states don’t even represent the diversity of America.

Just like crime. No one wants to admit that lack of accountability and forbidding the criticism of cultural choices are destroying an entire community of people in our country.

remove new orleans and baton rouge school districts and this state rockets up the list

Can you name a state that this isn’t the case?

Any bigger metro area will pull down state rankings.

Take Memphis schools out if TN rankings and TN would move up all else being equal.
Remove Jackson from MS and it moves up.

Louisiana just has more stupid people. The smartest kids at the schools in Louisiana are just as smart as the smartest kids in any other state.

Bell curves matter and Louisiana’s IQ bell curve is shifted pretty left of the national average.

Translation: States that are mostly white have better public schools.

Doesn't matter how much money you throw at schools and teachers, if a student is struggling to get meals at home, has a single parent constantly out working, a single parent who just doesn't give a shite and accepts welfare as a way of life, families dealing with addiction, etc., nothing will change in K-12 performance.

My entire neighborhood grew up poor, ever kid I ran with graduated college and did well.

Then stop throwing money at education, it doesn't do anything.

Stop pushing shitty social policy that leads to single parent homes.

That’s always the knee-jerk response, but it really boils down to how much education is valued in the home. That value is generally determined by socioeconomic status and culture. If you look at the ACT scores chart on a previous page, notice the location of the highest scoring public schools in Louisiana, then cross reference that to demographics.

Pretty much. Poverty only matters if the parent(s) don't care about education.

People are kind of dumb when it comes to data. "Correlation does not imply causation"

I literally wrote about the relationship between low household income and single parent households.

Yes. You place the blame on low household income, rather than single parent households. Just because you acknowledge that many low income households are single parent doesn’t change where you are placing the blame.

There are plenty of low income households that still produce great kids.

There are plenty of high income households that produce shite kids.

The link between shitty kids has far more to do with single parent households than income.

Whites and Asians value education more than Black People and Natives.

Agree, but I’d also say that poverty level and lack of value for education are directly proportional.
