Taunton Police published a vivid account of a drunk driving arrest on the department's Facebook page Tuesday, describing the bizarre series of events that led to 39-year-old Amy Rebello-McCarthy facing charges of operating under the influence, driving to endanger and a marked lanes violation.

"When they approached her she began laughing and didn't feel the crash was that serious," police wrote. "She was slurring her words and at times drooling." Rebello McCarthy's passenger, 22-year-old Marvin K. Kyewalyanga of Waltham, was smoking a cigarette as gas leaked from the damaged car, police wrote. He was allegedly unable to recall his name or speak without slurring his words. And when he moved away from the car, an officer spotted the butt of a gun in his waistband, leading officers to take Kyewalyanga to the ground and handcuff him.
