No, it does have limits. Usually assessed by spending pattern and payment history. But it is not unusual to have purchases up to $75k approved for good members.

And I’m not sure from your question, but you do realize Amex Platinum and Amex Centurion are two different cards, right? My original answe was related to Platinum. I know Centurion purchase approvals are much higher.

I wonder if they evaluate credit risk any otherway- lots of high profile people with the card. Celebrities go broke all the time. That said pattern is probably best inficator

When I used to build spec houses I would put a lot on my Amex Platinum just for point purposes. Paid a lot of large bills like the $75K you mentioned on it and never had an issue but like you said my spending pattern justified it.

I still spend $20-$30K per month for business expenses on cards but I can't justify the initiation and yearly fees on the Centurion.

So the $65k approved not sure what in my pattern justify it. Pay my $1-2k month, but doesn't really go too much higher.

My credit is aight

I think the threshold is closer to $20k - $25k per month. Looked into it last year and realized we are only about half that. Plus the fees were stupid. Decided it was just an ego thing. Amex Platinum provides all the benefits anyone really needs.
