I say this with sincerity; you are not smart.

Won’t be temporary. Either you just delay the spike in the curve or shut things down for months. A vaccine will take months to get out.

You think we shut things down until mid april and it magically disappears? No, this will be around until the majority of the population gets it or a vaccine is available. We are just delaying the inevitable

Wasn't Trump and the Republican Senate (and House until 2018) supposed to make things better so Americans weren't living paycheck-to-paycheck?

The current action won't collapse the American economy long-term. This is not an economic downturn due to crashing demand or a bubbled supply. This is something completely different.

Too bad that isn't the choice we're facing. You really think the economy is going to hum along like normal while the medical system collapses and every tenth person's parent or grandparent is dying? People are going to go to restaurants and concerts while those around them are getting sick from going to restaurants and concerts?

That simply isn't true.

With our exponential growth in testing capabilities and the new approved 45-minute turn around test, we will be able to implement South Korea style track testing to limit spread and treat early.

And if some of the drugs being tested show promise, then a reduction in the spread at the outset will allow manufactures time to mass produce.

He doesn't understand this. If it gets bad enough to where people are being denied life saving care, the quarantine will happen on it's own. Only in that case, proper provisions wouldn't be in place, no stimulus packaged would be negotiated, and shite would get real out of hand real quickly.

Most don't.

Wrong. Do you hand $5-$10 to a homeless person outside of a gas station every time you see one?

People are generally gross, and I have no desire to touch them. Am happy to help in many other ways

Why don't you start helping by delivering groceries to old people so they don't have to leave the house?

I agree. Lots of irresponsibility. Just like popping out kids while on welfare or medicaid.

Difference is seems like most of you care about the 2-3% that get the virus and die, where as I care about the 75-80% of Americans that can’t afford to pay their bills

I tend to agree if this doesn't get extended or become more draconian. I'm not confident that we're done with this by mid-April, though, and small businesses will start to fail because of the government imposed reduction in demand, which means a reduction in available jobs, which means people are underemployed and begin to run out of money, which means further reduction in demand. It's the possibility of an economic runaway if we do too much that concerns me as much as the possibility of a health runaway if we do too little.

It's a hell of a balancing act.

Take a long hard look at people in this country. Half of us are obese. Almost half are on some form of government assistance and contribute nothing to the treasury. I'd say 75% of people are functionally illiterate about things as basic as civics, geography and history. This is a recipe for a society where people can't wipe their own arse without the government helping them.

Seriously, how in the hell does a country get $22 trillion in debt? How in the hell does a country that claims to be the land of the free have the world's largest surveillance apparatus? Why is the country that claims it wants world peace the largest exporter of state sponsored war and violence in the world? And how stupid, lazy and ignorant does the public have to be to keep electing these idiots?

Maybe she doesn't have anyone to help her shop so needs to go to the store herself.

I stopped two weeks ago and talked to a little old lady who looked so lost she was just trying to absorb it all.

I asked if she was ok and needed help. She said she just needed a little shopping and didn't have anyone to help.

I offered my assistance and she politely declined, said I probably had a family that needed me to get home to them.

I asked if she would at least let me buy her groceries.

She said she'd made it this long she was good.

People complain but their not in their shoes.
