Based on your info I'm guessing you are in BR... which means you are only used to our crappy local contractors who won't pay for good labor and always fall waaaay behind on projects.
Go to other parts of the country, and you don't have these issues.
Amazon will make sure it's done on time and quickly, including bringing in outside labor and management if necessary.

Yeah and Yates was going to hit their target goal of building Cabela's in Gonzales, LA in record time too.
Yates built that Cabellas in five months

They built the facility out in Industriplex fast. Was it on schedule?
That would give us an idea of how well their construction managers meet a schedule.

Is it 5 levels... or is it 5 stories tall? Meaning just one really tall level?
5 levels. They are building a similar one in Little Rock to service the mid-south region.
Not sure if they are having elevated truck docks or an elaborate freight elevator system. But I am very curious now. Hope they have an Oxblue camera set up for construction.

7 months or so.
Delivery of their fleet of vans was well choreographed too.

This lends itself to the idea that many of these shut down commercial retail spaces surrounding Cortana could possibly make a comeback and be utilized as well. Not to mention all of the jobs this will create. This is actually the best thing that's happened around here in quite sometime.

I would imagine more restaurants/fast food joints will pop up there

^ Most definitely, the Amazon employees will need to hop over and get lunch, etc.
Bill Profita and Kevin Gallagher talked about it on the Exiles show this week. Mall began construction in 1974 and completed in 1976. At one time it was the largest single story mall in the United States. At it's peak it was valued at $100 million. Almost fifty years later, Amazon purchased it for $17.25 million.

"It's time to go to work..." lol does anyone really know what Walter actually does for a living other than bounce around from job to job usually sucking off the governments tit in some way shape or form. JBFC the guy is awful
Edit -- forgot -- also include pushing governmental work to his attorney son to his incredible resume lol

Seefried is currently selecting a demolition contractor, according to CSRS Vice President Walter Monsour, who says the firm plans to file demolition permits with the city-parish in the coming days.
“The last piece of the puzzle before we could put our hair down was the rezoning that happened yesterday,” he says. “So now we are comfortable that we can speed up the process. It is time to go to work.”
