Maybe they are positioning themselves to eventually acquire the properties they are opening stores in.
Real estate will always be valuable, and useful for Amazon.

I was still young when Service Merchandise was still in its prime.
Didn’t you have to find a carbon copy order form and then fill out the items that you wanted and then they got it out of their warehouse if it was in stock or they would call you once they got it.
Amazon should setup local delivery and small warehouse centers about the size of a Walmart carrying typical items that can be shipped same day in a regional territory.
In the same facility you can also walk in and go place your order and within 15 minutes it can be boxed and brought to your car by an Amazon bot.
Jeff B. if your listening I would like my cut for this idea.

Have that many companies announced that it's permanent?
My employer is definitely leaning in that direction. I seem to be one of the few of us who'd kind of like to all be back in the office.

I’d rather support the local mom
and pop places
A lot of mom and pop stores are doing very well selling on Amazon by reaching far bigger markets.

You needed Kicker 15" woofers with Rockford Fosgate punch 45 amps.
